Born 6th April 1968, Halifax, Yorkshire, UK.
David had a difficult early life at the hands of his alcoholic mother and abusive stepfather. This led him into a difficult period at the age of 16 that involved petty crime, two attempted suicides, being expelled from school and a juvenile criminal conviction.
After working in a factory for £1 an hour, he got an office job. Aged 20, his life changed infinitely for the better when he became an operational fire-fighter. For a Northern working class guy, this was the top of the pile. A job he loved.

Guinness Memory Record Breaker
While in the Fire Service, David struggled to pass his promotion exams. One day, he saw a guy memorise a pack of playing cards on TV. He bought his book and 8 months later went to the World Memory Championships coming 4th. He went on to develop one of the most powerful memories in history.
Over the following years, he came 3rd in the World Memory Championships, broke a Guinness record for reciting Pi to 22,500 digits, became an International Grandmaster of Memory and US Memory Champion.

David began teaching memory techniques in 1997 in the Fire Service and soon moved on to schools, Universities, associations and companies.
In 1999, he left the Fire Service to become a full time professional speaker.
To date, he has spoken to more than 500,000 people online and face to face in 60 countries. Venues include The Tower of London and Caesars Palace.
In 2003, he began speaking for CEO mentoring groups and has spoken to over 2000 MDs and CEOs. One of the groups, the Academy for Chief Executives, awarded him their highest accolade - Speaker Hall of Fame.

David runs his company with his partner, Karen and they have five children and four grandchildren between them.
His main pastime is bodybuilding. He lost 43kg / 94lb / 6st 10lb after getting hugely overweight. Once he had lost weight, he took it to a new level, competing in Masters natural bodybuilding competitions.
In 2019, in only his second ever competition, he reached the British finals of the Natural Physique Association in the Masters Over 50s class.
He will compete again in 2024.
